Construction on the $980 million, 1.4 million-square-foot West Hall expansion of the Las Vegas Convention Center continues unabated by the coronavirus pandemic.
Late last month, workers began pouring 600,000 square feet of concrete flooring in the main exhibit hall. The process will take from four to five months to complete and is a major step forward in the expansion, which was about three-quarters complete as of March 26.
The expansion, still scheduled for completion in December in time for CES 2021, features an outdoor plaza and a grand atrium.
The new facility will feature state-of-the-art design and technology, including plumbing, electrical and data infrastructure so exhibitors can connect without the use of on-ground wiring.
The expansion adds to the existing 3.2 million square feet of space at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
